  • 2 Dead Ringers in your chosen models and finishes

  • 3-pick pack
  • Setup card with QR code for quick install tips

The instant bass mute.

Round, punchy, muted. The thump behind classic Motown and ’60s session records, and plenty of lo-fi records since.

15,000+ out in the wild.

In for one song. Out for the next.

Unlike a chunk of foam, it pops in and out in seconds, so you can switch between open and muted tone mid-set.

No tools, no commitment.

Wide strings welcome.

Longer than our guitar models, so it spans the strings on basses and other instruments with wide string spacing. The top is gently curved to follow the radius of most bass bridges, so every string mutes evenly.

Room to grow.

The XL Slide-Top Case holds up to four XLs, or a mix of models, so the two you start with have somewhere to live and there’s room for more.

Everything you need to dial in the fit.

Dead Ringer XL is 90mm wide and 14mm tall, or about 22mm with all three included foam strips added. Most basses need one or two of them to dial in the right pressure. Like the foam mutes on vintage basses, it pushes your strings a touch sharp, so give it a quick retune once it’s in.

Before you order, measure from the top of your bass to the underside of the strings, just in front of the bridge. For good muting, that gap should be about 18mm or less. If it’s much more than that, the XL probably won’t press in firmly enough to mute well. Basses with trapeze tailpieces or floating bridges often sit higher, so measure those carefully.

We make these ourselves.

Every Dead Ringer is hand-crafted in Nashville. Studio and road tested by musicians who care enough to personally assemble every one that ships.

I’m using it so my Taylor 114ce and I’ve already written one of my best songs ever and the sound is amazing! Love this thing!!

If you are in need of a rubber bridge guitar, buy this immediately. It just works. Plain and simple. I love that it doesn’t absolutely choke the note. I love the percussive element this tool gives my guitar! I highly recommend!

Even better than the original!

So far, so good! It really does give a unique "vibe" to the guitar I play all the time. Kinda like a reset on playing, since the result is so different? I've bought 4 now - one for myself, three for friends/family. I find it's most vibe-y when you plug your acoustic in, and use a good amount of reverb/delay. I appreciate the inclusion of several shims to make sure it can fit virtually any acoustic. Nicely done!
I'm mainly using my Dead Ringer on an Orangewood Julian (with my own pickup system installed). ~ Jeff Kloetzel

Really enjoying this it’s super fun thanks so much!!

I'm impressed. It took a few seconds to add a couple of the supplied riser strips and rolled it under the strings. I put it on a P bass with flats and it's exactly the old school flavor I wanted. The dampening and sound is much better than I was able to achieve with random foam I had laying around.

It’s fun, and easy to use which is no small thing. Just slide it in place and turn it upright, and you’re good to go. I appreciate the simplicity. It’s perfect for playing quietly just as a practical matter, but the sound is also good.

the moment I put the dead ringer on my Taylor, it gave it such a warm and vintage tone that’s unmatched. For the price it’s well worth it.

I really appreciate the sound this makes; it basically makes the guitar sound like a whole new instrument, maybe like a marimba! But it helps create a really lovely "vibe" for certain types of music. I am really happy I got it!

Bottom line: This WORKS, right outta the box!
I spent lot of money and time trying to get the rubber bridge sound. Rolled wool felt, wool felt on weather-stripping, wool felt on those rubber wedges that piano tuners use…spent an easy $40 getting a-a-a-lmost there by various routes.
The Dead Ringer shows up and literally 30 seconds later I had the exact sound I’ve been pursuing for my old ‘65 Harmony Stella! Thank you, Dead Ringer!

I got a message for a project on SoundBetter for a rubber bridge overdub on a pop song. Ordered a 2-pack from Etsy which arrived in two days just when the project was due. Added one extra height pad and tucked under one of my Taylor’s bridge’s..worked perfectly first time out..
Client emailed after they got the file with this comment “TONE IS SPOT ON”
That’s all you need to know, spend $20 on this guy, not $750 on one of the cheap dedicated rubber bridge guitars out there..

I'm a "weekend warrior" singer/acoustic guitarist with a large, diverse repertoire. I gig 5-6 times month. Got my Dead Ringer last week and am having Big Fun trying it out on random tunes from my playlist. The change in tone has "re-vitalized" a bunch of tunes I've been playing for years, causing me to re-think how I play them. Gonna try it out for a live audience tomorrow.

I put the Deadringer on a Gretsch Jim Dandy parlor model, and immediately I got inspired. Some new music is in the making. I put one strip cut to 2/3 of the length and a whole strip over it, to compensate the hight. (Thinner side under the treble strings)

Fun little device, didn’t need the extra padding for my j-45 will low action. Going to order a few more for multiple fiddles, Rosewood pairs perfectly. Great product!

Absolutely beautiful, Deion! Thanks for sharing that.

I tried it on my Martin D-28 and on my D'Angelico parlor acoustic and it sounds equally amazing on both. It's already inspired me to write a song! Love this thing!

Tried many other string dampers. The Dead Wringer Pro blows them away. Great percussive tone. Easy to install and remove. Very satisfied.

As it comes it does not contact strong on my Martin parlor size guitar. With an extra foam strip
It just deafened the sound completely

Thanks for the honest review, Saul! Bare, the top foam should be pressing into all six strings right next to the saddle, so if it isn’t making contact there, something’s off with the placement or the fit. One 2mm strip has a lot of give and shouldn’t swing it from no contact to fully dead. Email us at hello@deadringerbridge.com with a quick photo of it in place and we’ll get it dialed in.

love it.....

I put it on a Taylor GS Mini to partially mute the strings so that I don't disturb anyne during the work hours. I does exactly what I'd hoped it would.

Used it for my Kay parlor acoustic. Super nice to be able to get the rubber bridge thing without committing to a full guitar!

Changed everything when recording acoustics. I can produce percussion sounds that actually replace booming drums. Recommend highly.

Lovely! More mellow but still bright !

I tried this on a 000, and also a jumbo 12 string. Fun results - a bit of a novelty for one song in a set live maybe. Normally I palm-mute, but I’ve also threaded things in the strings. Deadlines is clean and easy.

I put it on my Martin LX1. Had to add another foam strip. I play this guitar a lot while sitting in my recliner while hubby and I are watching TV. It mutes the sound so hubby can watch his shows without turning up the volume. I also really love the sound - very inspiring!
